Virtual Learning Academy

Welcome to Virtual Learning Academy Consortium
 for Lapeer County

A tuition-free K–8 virtual public school

Thank you for your interest in Virtual Learning Academy Consortium. Enrollment for the 2012–13 school year is now closed.

If you have questions or are interested in enrolling in this program for the 2013–14 school year, please email us at info@vlao.org. We look forward to working with you to provide your child a high-quality, home-based learning option.

If a traditional classroom isn’t best for your child, the Lapeer ISD in conjunction with Oakland schools has an alternative: Virtual Learning Academy Consortium (VLAC). VLAC, a new virtual school program for grades K–8, offers a flexible program customized for your child. Your child will learn at his/her own pace, using a curriculum from the world-renowned Calvert School. VLAC is open to students in Genesee, Lapeer County, Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

VLAC can help you give your child a great education:

  • Flexible program customized for your child
  • Self-paced curriculum that moves at your child’s speed
  • Outstanding support from Michigan-certified teachers, as well as experienced teachers from Calvert
  • Well-rounded, classic education that uses a blend of print and online materials
  • Step-by-step lesson plans so the planning is done for you
  • VLAC supplies all necessary equipment and supplies

Why we chose Calvert School’s Curriculum

The quality of Calvert’s curriculum has been proven by students in all 50 states and over 60 countries. This accredited curriculum provides an education that will challenge your child and prepare him/her for future success. Students in public, private, virtual, charter and international schools, as well as students learning independently at home, have used the Calvert curriculum for over a century. We carefully evaluated all of the curriculum partners for VLAC, and are confident that you and your student will be pleased with Calvert
