Annie's Ghosts/ The History of the Lapeer State Home

April 22

In partnership with the Michigan Humanities Council, Community Mental Health, The Family Literacy Center and Lapeer District Library we are offering a series of events based on the book, Annie's Ghosts - A Journey into a Family Secret.

This first program in the series will focus on our history in the field of Mental Health, and developmental disabilities.

We will start with a welcome and introduction by the Michigan Humanities Council, followed by our speaker, Pete Lynch.   Pete began his career in mental health here in Lapeer at the Oakdale Center and is currently the Chief Human Resources Director for Macomb-Oakland Regional Center.

Following Pete will be two local authors, Laura Fromwiller and Jan Gillis who have written a book detailing the rich history of our own Oakdale Center.  This history of Oakdale, formerly the State Home for the Feeble Minded, will be available soon

Light refreshments will be served
