Series #3 Annie's Ghosts/ Mental Health Then and Now

May 6

In partnership with the Michigan Humanities Council, Community Mental Health, The Family Literacy Center and Lapeer District Library we are offering a series of events based on the book, Annie's Ghosts - A Journey into a Family Secret.

Have you ever had business trouble?
Do you like to read novels?
Do you have any vicious vices?

If you answered yes, you might have been considered insane in the late 1800’s.

All of these were listed as reasons for “admission to an insane asylum” , according to one actual ledger.

For this, our third event, we will focus on Mental Health then and now and how you can help.    We look forward to welcome back Pete Lynch as well as staff from Community Mental Health.

We will be viewing the film, "A Wind Is Rising"  A documentary of the Oakdale Center produced in 1960 by WJRT.

Sue Clement will offer an introduction to the new Mental Health First Aide training that will be available soon.

Light refreshments will be served.
